Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance

Starting January 1, 2026, ASEBP added an additional Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance option for retired covered members. This update reflects feedback from MyRetiree Plan covered members to improve plan flexibility.

Option 1: 2x your pre-retirement employer salary

If eligible, the amount of Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance available to you is 2x the annual salary you had in place before retirement or terminating from ASEBP. If you did not previously participate in Life and AD&D insurance, you are not eligible for these benefits. Benefits paid under these policies are tax-free.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Covered members under 65
  • Previously participated in ASEBP’s Life and AD&D insurance

Option 2: $25,000 flat-rate option (mandatory)

The amount of Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance available to you is $25,000. If you currently have Option 1 (2x your pre-retirement employer salary), you can switch to Option 2 by completing the MyRetiree Plan Change Application form. The $25,000 flat-rate option is the mandatory minimum requirement for all new MyRetiree Plan covered members who join the plan on and after January 1, 2026. Benefits paid under these policies are tax-free.

Eligibility Requirements

  • New covered members under 65
